Women's Economic Empowerment
We support vulnerable women, particularly widows and women affected by conflict, poverty and displacement, to strengthen their economic independence and participation in community life.
South Sudan
We walk alongside vulnerable women and communities in South Sudan, creating opportunities for economic independence, resilience, dignity and hope.
Compassion Initiative, South Sudan (CISS) is an indigenous South Sudanese organisation committed to raising hope among vulnerable people, restoring dignity and empowering communities to build better and more sustainable lives.
We understand the realities faced by communities affected by poverty, conflict, displacement, hunger, disasters and limited economic opportunities.
Our work seeks not only to respond to immediate needs, but also to help people rebuild livelihoods, strengthen resilience and become active participants in shaping their own future.
“We do not see vulnerable people simply as recipients of assistance. We see individuals with gifts, knowledge, abilities and potential.”

Our programmes respond to immediate needs while building the foundations for longer-term resilience and self-reliance.
We support vulnerable women, particularly widows and women affected by conflict, poverty and displacement, to strengthen their economic independence and participation in community life.
We organise women into savings groups and provide start-up capital that enables them to begin small businesses and other income-generating activities.
We provide practical support in financial management, savings, entrepreneurship, small business development and community leadership.
We stand alongside communities affected by disasters, displacement, hunger and other emergencies through appropriate humanitarian and relief support.
We believe women should not only receive assistance. They should have opportunities to rebuild their lives, support their families and become economically independent.
Through savings groups, micro-loans, skills development and compassionate community support, women are gaining confidence, learning to manage resources collectively and becoming active contributors to their families and communities.
Our goal is not simply to provide temporary assistance. We want women to have the confidence, skills, resources and opportunities to shape a more secure future for themselves and their families.

When disaster and displacement threaten people's ability to meet their basic needs, we seek to respond with dignity and compassion.
Communities in South Sudan can face severe challenges caused by conflict, displacement, flooding, drought, hunger and other disasters.
Compassion Initiative seeks to provide appropriate relief support while connecting emergency assistance with longer-term recovery, resilience and community empowerment.
